Securing the loan can be one of the most exasperating elements of purchasing a house. But it doesn't have to be. I have close business relationships with several lenders in the Mount Sinai area, and they've helped me realize a few things that make the process of applying for a loan very easy.

1 – Compile a list of questions regarding your loan program

If you don't entirely comprehend the pros and cons of all the various loan programs, make sure you bring a list of questions. It can be hard to understand the differences between fixed and adjustable rate mortgages. I or one of my lenders will be able to help you understand the advantages and disadvantages of each one.

2 – Decide when you want to lock

When you lock in the interest rate, it indicates that a mortgage lender guarantees the interest rates for the loan – most often at the time the loan application is submitted. By floating the rate, you can lock the rate at any time between the loan application day and at the time of closing. 3 – Decide if you want to pay additional points to reduce your interest rate
